About Emily

Bio

I am a friendly and intuitive tutor who aims to cultivate assurance and aptitude in my students by designing and delivering engaging, interactive lessons that allow them to connect with, and progress through the learning. I specialise in encouraging a deeper enjoyment of English and ultimately, always seek to provide personalised, inclusive and quality teaching that challenges, inspires and empowers all young people to achieve their full potential!

Teaching Experience

A career in teaching English deeply appeals to my personality and values. The study of the English Language is vital to the development of comprehensive skills that will benefit students throughout the course of their lives, whether it be in terms of their employability, their ability to communicate and connect with peers and wider society or indeed succeed in their further studies.

With an outstanding background and nearly ten years experience as a professional Teacher of English and leader in Literacy for a wide range of abilities and needs across all key stages in two of the top non-selective schools in the UK, I have both a deep understanding of the subject and a wealth of experience in inspiring and engaging students. I am also an experienced practitioner in small, group tailored learning, one-to-one tuition, homeschooling programme of learning and mentoring support. I specialise in creative writing including fiction, non-fiction and poetry, facilitating students in reaching award-winning standards and becoming published young writers.
